This is a picture of your blogger dropping off a bike at the Link Secondary School, nr Croydon in South London.
The Link is a small school for children with speech, language and communication needs. They have an award-winning travel plan which is headed-up by the school’s Travel Plan Co-ordinator, Carolyn Jones, and were interested in buying a folding bike with a successful grant application to Smarter Travel Sutton, so I decided the best way for them to fully understand Bigfish was to pop down and pay a visit. (FYI, Smarter Travel Sutton’s pioneering green travel programmerecently delivered a whopping 74 percent increase in cycling!)
I was immediately struck by the fantastically happy atmosphere around the school and the real feeling of community they have there. I was even treated to a guided tour which set me on a high for the rest of the day. I very much look forward to returning there in the near future! Thanks Carolyn and The Link (and Kelly who gave me the tour!), for making me and my Bigfish feel so welcome!
Check out the latest folding demo of the Bigfish. You’ll see why it’s one of the coolest folding bikes around, especially with the fact that you can wheel it around when it’s folded!
Having tried out skiing down the street, we found that even in London’s perilous snowy conditions the Bigfish performs better. By applying gentle pressure to the rear pedal brake you can really have some fun with controlled skidding!
Skiing and cycling could make a great new biathlon event for the London Olympics in 2012!
“Bigfish is cheaper than other similar high end folding bikes”
Read the great content on Bigfish in this great new glossy free magazine going out around London. We really hope the magazine’s a success and that it fulfills its vision of encouraging more people to take up cycling in the capital. You can read some great info on p12 about the Bigfish folding bike.
We’re delighted to say you can now take a test-ride of the Bigfish in Essex. Below you can see proprietor Shaun Miller showing you the way outside his shop in Brentwood, just a short spin up the road from the railway station. Shaun is a great fun enthusiastic guy who will give you helpful and honest information not just on the Bigfish but on cycling issues in general.
You won’t be blinded by jargon or pushed in a certain direction. Why not pay him a visit! Postcode is CM14 4DW.
A pink Bigfish spotted hanging out near Farringdon in London. The pink Bigfish is a relatively rare beast but sightings are increasing around the UK capital city as awareness of it spreads. It’s a gentle creature and will reward you with many years of loving affection if you make friends with it. Amazon.co.uk for example has a great offer where it can be made friends with for only £495 plus free shipping!
I just wanted to draw your attention to this article on the new development at Oxford Circus in London as something of an innovation for the UK. See what you think about it. The thought is that by making it cross-directional it will make people a lot more responsible for their own actions. Could be interesting to see how it works.
I’m going up there on my Bigfish tomorrow to check it out (cycling and wheeling the folded bike along with me for the complete picture!)
We’re very sad to say that the lovely Broken Family Band is in the throes of a final tour around the UK before splitting amicably and going their separate ways.
What better opportunity then, to show you this video that their very talented lead guitar-gentleman Jay Williams made of them at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, and (yikes!) you can even see them riding onto the Pyramid stage!
