Cycle protestors stand up for folding bikes’ rights, by taking deck chairs and ironing boards…

This is a story which tickled us on this cold day. In response to the idiocy of the peculiar rules on Manchester’s tram system, which has not only banned cycles from being carried at all times, but extends this proscription to folding bikes, unless they’ve been put inside a case, campaigners from Love Your Bike protested in the best way possible…. By bringing ironing boards and deck chairs onto the system.

We at Bigfish salute you! Read the full story HERE.

(The same group ran a fantastic ad campaign, highlighting the benefits of cycling. Check it out HERE.)

  1. That’s hilarious!

Last year, I met with the mass transit board here in New Orleans. I brought several folding bikes (including a Bigfish) so they could see them. As a result of this meeting, they agreed to change policy and allow folding bikes – but they still want them covered.

Perhaps we should bring some ironing boards on board here too. I’d think that would grab some attention.
